Iran to join Apostille Convention

February 6, 2016

The Iranian Parliament has approved a bill allowing the Iranian government to join the Hague Apostille Convention (1961). The convention requires member countries to recognize their public and official documents to be recognized by each other without the need for legalization by their respective foreign missions or consulates. It is unclear when the country will actually sign up for the convention but it is quite likely to take place in 2016.
